I thought it was a pity to dye the white collar I felted a few weeks ago into another color. That is why I decided to felt a summer blouse which could be used as an example for dying with natural Indigo. Below you can see the result. This blouse is felted without seems and is made of Merino wool, felted on Chiffon silk. As you can see on the photo I have dyed this felted blouse in a light blue color. I did this by putting the blouse several times into the Indigo vat. I am very pleased with the result. It turned out beautiful because of the different shades of blue.
To make an Indigo vat I used Natrium Hydro Sulphite, Ammonia and Meths. As I was not very pleased with the use of these chemicals ( Natrium Hydro Sulfiet and Ammonia can be harmful) I have been searching for an alternative on the internet. Ik vond het jammer om de witte kraag, die ik een paar weken geleden gevilt heb, in een andere kleur te verven. Daarom besloot ik om een zomerblouse te vilten die als voorbeeld zou kunnen dienen voor het verven met plantaardige Indigo. Op de foto zie je het resultaat. De blouse is zonder naden gevilt en is gemaakt van Merinowol gevilt op Chiffonzijde. Zoals je op de foto kunt zien is deze gevilte blouse in een lichtblauwe kleur geverfd. Deze kleur is ontstaan door de wol een aantal keren in een Indigovat te dompelen. Omdat er ook zijde in de blouse is verwerkt heeft hij prachtige blauw nuances.
Om een Indigovat te maken heb ik Natrium Hydrosulphite, Ammonia en Brandspiritus gebruikt. Omdat ik niet echt blij was met het gebruik van deze chemicalien ( zowel Natrium Hydro Sulfiet als Ammonia kunnen schadelijk zijn) heb ik op internet naar een alternatief gezocht.
